Honda Civic Type R EP3
After owning a number of Mini's and Renault Sport models, I decided it was time to try something Japanese. The Honda Civic Type R EP3 seemed to be the obvious choice, it offers 197 bhp, 0-60 in 6.6 seconds and handles very nicely. It also is very capable of returning over 30 mpg!
ABP Motorsport Fast Road Geometry
After purchasing the car, it was decided that a geometry setup would be a good start in ensuring everything was as it was supposed to be! After looking on various forums it seemed the car would benefit from a fast road set up, which involves running around 1 degree of negative camber on the front wheels, and about a degree of negative on the rear. The front end is also set to toe in by a small amount. The rear is set to toe out slightly. Magnex back box and Supersprint Un Silenced B Pipe
After having the car a few weeks, it was decided that it could do with some more noise and possibly help the breathing at the same time! Although the preffered choice was going to be the Spoon N1 system, due to the high cost of this a Magnex back box was bought from Ebay, along with a Supersprint B Pipe (unsilenced). This combination did give a nice sound however it was incredibly loud!
Future Plans
This car was sold on shortly after due to it not suiting my driving style, if it had been kept, a Hondata ECU would have been very tempting. TDI in Warrington remap the Civic's with this ECU, giving massive mid range gains by bringing the VTEC in progressively from as low as under 4000 rpm as against the 6000 rpm it comes in at with the factory setup. This in my opinion would have made the car far more driveable, however the cost was near to £900.
